Staphylococcus
- S. aureus: MRSA (Methicillin-resistant S. aureus)
- S. saprophyticus: common cause of UTIs (especially in young females)
- S. epidermidis: Typically harmless and found on skin but can colonize medical implants
Streptococcus
- S. pyogenes: pharyngitis (strep throat), scarlet fever, rheumatric fever
- S. agalactiae: neonatal infections
- S. pneumoniae: pneumonia and otitis media
