# Macromolecule Transportation
**Sec (Secretory) System**
- SecYEG: Transmembrane transporter (allow for transportation or embedding)
- SecA: Recognizes the signal, ATP hydrolyzing enzyme
- SecB: Prevents folding of the protein
- SecDF: Use the proton motive force for translocation
**Twin Arginine Translocation (tat) System**
- Derives its energy from the proton motive force
- Found in both gram negatives and gram positives (only the plasma membrane → not secretion for gram-)
## Secretion and Translocation
Secretion involves the movement of components from the cytoplasm through the membrane and outside of the cell
Translocation involves the movement of components from one location within a cell to another, without crossing the outer membrane.
