# Ribosomes
The ribosome has three sites (EPA):
- *Exit*
- *Peptidyl*
- *Aminoacyl:* Receives tRNAs carrying the next amino acid to be added
Can three tRNA

- Example of RNA quaternary structure
30S subunit + 50S subunit = 70S ribosome (complete)
- 30S is composed of 16S rRNA & 19 proteins
- 50S is composed of 23S & 5S rRNA & 31 proteins
While it may seem like a tangled mess at first, these rRNA sequences are able to consistently form into these higher level structures by finding the global minimums during folding
The protein subunits regulate ribosome initiation, elongation, and termination
